Ray did a lot of buggeration with weld-through primer in the backsides of the pressings, etc.

I don't think most would bother with that level of detail.

Given how often people throw them into hedges, making it look prettier for 2 or 3 years is probably good enough. If it's a garage queen and worth taking care of, it most likely isn't rusty in the first place. Fine line between useable and paranoid.
