There is but will be no concern when removing dust shields.

Very smart Flanders :-)

Now removed and new discs fitted - looking a lot tidier through the wheels now.

Thanks all for advice - I have some heat resistant tape to fit when I get a chance - though given the temperatures up here in Scotland just now I suspect I won't need it until next year - ambient cooling will be fine!

Cheers

Ally

Can the rear caliper shields be removed or tightened without removing the hub?

One of mine is rattling, although appears to be solid enough. Happy to junk it but don't want the hassle of striping anything else, if I can avoid it.

Fatty you can get them off , but it means you need to cut them , if the bolts are rusted in you will need to take a cold chisel to the head , then as I recall I a hacksaw will slice through the guard and you can yank them off .

It was a garage that removed mine - but they did say they had to remove the hub to get them off.

Not sure if you could tighten though - sounds a bit odd that it could be loose?

What side are the bolts accessed from, Chips? I looked at the parts diagram on the Lings site and it looked like you need to take the disc off to get to them.

Discs off won't help, the bolt heads are on the back of the heat shields, with access blocked by the hub. I ended up cutting them off.

Gotcha, thanks Chris.

So, any temporary bodges I can do to stop the rattling until I can spend a bit of time on it?
