Rear Brake Pad and the locating pin in the middle
I have just purchased some new rear Pads and notice the replacements do not have the locating pins that fit into the the slots on the piston.
Are these necessary?

For clarity, these pins are there to stop the piston from rotating for the parking brake self. Adjusting mechanism - so ideally they are there. As a result of an overwind/under wind you make end up with an over/under effective parking brake. However at a practical level the piston doesn't seem to rotate significantly without them.
