Rear Lower Brace
Having read various threads on upgrading the braces on the S, there seems to be a split between those who notice a difference after changing the rear lower, and those that don't. Having fitted a Spoon brace, I can't see much difference. I have also read comments to the effect that the rear of later cars has been made stiffer. Does anyone know whether that included a stronger rear lower brace, and if that is the reason why an upgraded brace doesn't seem to make much difference to these cars?

The lower rear brace is the same regardless of MY. I'd uprate it personally, I find when the back end steps out of line the updated brace makes this feel more progressive rather than just snap oversteer.

The difference is subtle but noticable. Definiytely worth it, Mike...........

As above. Accepted as the best bang per buck mod on the S? Probably :)

I don't believe Honda changed the flimsy rear brace on the 140-series cars. They did beef up the front one.
So, an X-brace probably has less on an improvement than on the 100-130 cars. But I should imagine a rear one will have the same unbelievable effect on the breakaway sensation. I was sceptical until I tried it too. |
I'd also add that you don't need to be mugged into an expensive brand name part. It's a section of solid alluminium bar after all.........

If you fit, fit good bolts mine are proving to be a knightmare to remove :(
Cheap pos. |
Steel bar is better though!

Guys, are we talking about the straight bar that goes fromside to side? The one that needs removed to drop the exhaust?
Any recommendations on a brand? |
Yes.
I have a cusco one which is a steel "D" shape tube/pole. Made a noticeable difference. Can't comment on other makes, although I think ultraracing braces are good? The white ones? Edited for typo |
