Rear pad replacement

Simple question really, left or right handed wind back tool to wind the piston back when changing rear pads?

H10NDR Nov 30, 2014 01:54 AM

Clockwise to wind in. Opposite to wind out.

Thought it was that simple, wind back kit I've got has left and right hand spindles and they're not great. Think piston is a bit seized :(

Righty tighty

Lefty loosey

Managed to move it 1/8 of a turn and windback tool now snapped.

Use the edge of a bastard file - get more leverage that way.

That's the method I used.

Just replaced a rear on mine with remanufactured because I couldn't budge it even with a rewind tool I used for years. In fact I broke it. Lesson, don't leave sticky calipers for long they end up being seized callipers. My fault I suppose, although it would have needed a full strip and build which is a bit beyond my skills.

£75 exchange was the best I could get from my local motor factors. It was fantastic quality though.

3/8 extension bar works well

Car's off road from tonight, will give it another go or it's new calipers time.
