Reciprocating Saw Blades for Suspension Bolts?
 

TLDR: What reciprocating saw blades do people recommend for suspension bolts?

I've got my S2K up on jack stands on the drive and I'm trying to get my suspension out by chopping the seized bolts. Problem is, they're eating my reciprocating saw blades and I'm having pretty much zero impact on them. There seems to be relatively little information about which blades are people are using - I'm sure a bunch of folk on here have had to do this... so what did you use? Makita bi-metal blades (14TPI) and Bosch bi-metal blades (18TPI) have both been used and I've got £25 of blunted blades to show for my trouble. The "Diablo" Extreme metal cutting blades seem to be recommended in the US but the only ones I can find are costing ~$40 and will take weeks to get here...

Keep the blade cool, apply constant pressure, and note when the teeth smooth off or get bent at the tips etc.

Take care not to get the blades to hot, some oil or cutting fluid is good idea to use as well.

I used Dewalt and with good results shorter the better 152mm DT2361-QZ

go to a local pro place and they should point you to good blades

good ones went through mine pretty quickly with a decent saw but i cant recall the brand. i think i got some from machine mart

As Noodels said, I found a shorter blade helped as it stopped the tip hitting the subframe and causing the saw to bounce.
Also, make sure you are only cutting the bolt and not the bush. Both have the same result, but you’ll save time just cutting the bolt.

I’m sure it was Bosch blades and plenty of No Nonsense cutting fluid I used. IIRC used two blades per side?! That was just the rear.. haven’t tackled the front yet

What tool are you using to get through them? Only reason I ask, is I started with an air saw but like you, had little impact on the bolts. Then I switched to an electric recipricating saw with Dewalt blades (from B&Q I think) and with some perseverance, I got through each of them. I'd allow 30 mins of heartache for each bolt though!

Also, don't be tempted to cut corners.... I thought by using a grinder with a 1mm cutting disk it would be quicker. I had to take the guard off to get it in the space and ... BOOM! ... the disk shattered, hit me in the face and needed 15 stitches from under my chin to my lip... on New Years eve too!
