Refurbed brake calipers

My front left caliper is sticking..... Where's the best place for a refurbed replacement? Seen some on ebay but is there a particular seller on ebay that many people on here have bought from that they recommend?

Cheers ladies and gents

Interested to know this too. The front left has stuck on my car twice in 1 week now.

Just press foot on brake <pads removed> and clean piston from dirt build up lube it and push it in again. :tipwink:

AMK or Shaftec, obtainable through local motorfactors, come with a 2 year warranty or 30k or so miles. Set you back about £60-£70 each

Are the Bigg Red brake caliper repair kits worth buying? At £20 and a few hours work they seem like quite a good way to go. Instructions would be nice too :p

My Sunday consisted in cleaning the car and then moving on to this dam caliper!! I removed the caliper, pushed the piston out and saw a fair bit of rust. Used some wet and dry to rub it down as best I could, cleaned it up, regreased, refitted, flushed through some new brake fluid, job done. The piston was a little bit sticky but not as bad as it was previously so will be looking to replace caliper after Xmas.

Look on E Bay & order 2 x Budweg caliper kits by Brakeparts.co.uk @ £33.95 each . The kit comes with everything you need to refurb the calipers yourself including the pistons which are the components that corrode and stick . If your reasonably confident it should be a steady Sunday mornings work . I originally pushed my rusted calipers out and cleaned up but this only buys you a few months & they will be sticking again . It's really not so difficult job and will save you a lot of hard earned .You will also need brake fluid to re bleed & replenish system as you may as well do the right thing and do a fluid change / bleed all 4 corners while you have the jacks out & wheels off - hope this helps !

I decided to order a reconditioned caliper instead of refurbishing at home. £130 with a £30 refund when you send the old one back to them. I had the right hand one included in the sale of the car because the previous owner thought the right hand one was sticking, so I bought the left hand one as well so I can change both. Might be worth a look for anyone else having problems. They are refurbished by http://www.brake-eng.com/.

Sold by Brakes International. http://tinyurl.com/nfsvjez

For giggles I rang Honda about replacing both front calipers. £650 per side!
