Refurbishing My Rims.

I'm going to bite the bullet and refurbish my rims but I haven't decided on a colour as yet. The Car is in Moonrock so I'm guessing Black would be the most obvious choice.

What do we all have here? any pictures I can compare to maybe?

Thanks.

Think I prefer gunmetal to black for Moonrock.

how about these.

SlimJ GBR 04-08-2014 02:30 AM

I had mine done in Black Chrome a few years ago, they really need doing again now but I'm replacing them soon with some different wheels (will refurb original wheels eventually ready for when I come to sell the car in the future). But I really like them like this and they suited the moonrock just nicely. :)

These pics are from just after I had them done.

The gun metal looks brilliant in that above picture. I find that black detracts from the shape of the wheel, which is something you want to highlight.

I'm always partial to the bronze colours. I currently have a light bronze which I'm a little unsure of, but the BMW A32 Sepang Bronze looked great on my other set of wheels. If you wanted the Volk/Ray's anodized look apparently the Fiat 750 Marron Volciano is the right colour (http://forums.evolutionm.net/evo-tir...nze-paint.html).

adz9 04-08-2014 03:05 AM

I'd go with really dark gunmetal I think, just darker thant he car colour!

RyanT 04-08-2014 03:49 AM

I don't like black all the shape and definition of the alloys gets lost.

BCA 04-08-2014 03:54 AM

More photos of the black chrome please, I'm on the edge of making that decision myself!

That colour looks amazing! If I was buying a new set of wheels for my S, would love a set in that colour.

Thanks guys. Still pondering about all this but all the images are helping. Some really nice cars here so it's giving me a few idea's.

Louisq 04-08-2014 07:01 AM

which facelift wheels are they? I have the V2's on my moonrock and have pondered swapping for the early ones or seeing what mine look like in a darker colour

PedroHicken 04-08-2014 07:05 AM

standard MY05 rims. What have you got in mind?

Le8 04-08-2014 07:10 AM

Everyone has black wheels these days.

I personally would go for Anthracite.

PedroHicken 04-08-2014 07:55 AM

Has anyone got any more photo's of dark Anthracite rims on a Moonrock? Not too keen of rims the same colour of the actual bodywork...

s2k_Nut 04-08-2014 11:19 AM

Why make the wheels dull and grey on a grey car, those cars look so bland with nothing to break the dull colour.

Have them done in chromed silver or some other such bright colour would be my suggestion.

Grey car and grey wheels = 3 piece suit ...

Dembo 04-08-2014 11:33 AM

Bronze. Black looks great on Silverstone, but Moonrock is that bit darker so there isn't the contrast. Same with gunmetal or anthracite.

I agree with Paul here - you need a lighter coloured wheel to make something stand out.

Ben G 04-08-2014 11:38 AM

Gunmetal. It's a cliche choice, sure, but then there's a reason why it's chosen so often to become a cliche.. it works!

Diamond cutting also adds to the appeal, not that I'm bias..

PedroHicken 04-08-2014 11:50 AM

Bronze is quite interesting actually...I quite like that. Has anyone gone down this route?

Thanks for the posts by the way guys.

PedroHicken 04-08-2014 12:28 PM

So, I stumbled upon one of MB's pictures (Sorry MB!).

http://www.sidtech.co.uk/iu/ScoobyMark849554646554.JPG

Opinions? MB's alloys look like a very light bronze effect. I never thought Moonrock would be so hard to please!

martin j 04-08-2014 12:34 PM

Need to do mine this year but car is an 09 so different alloys, was going anthracite but will welcome inspiration.

sound_wave 04-09-2014 12:45 AM

Sounds like you dont fancy a brighter colour. Have a search for ninebolts' S2000 - he has smoked chrome CE28n's and they look really good.

Anthracite on a Moonrock - without a doubt!

I saw someone's on here, can't remember who, it suits the car perfectly on the AP2 V1 rims.

PedroHicken 04-10-2014 04:27 AM

Anthracite is an interesting colour. Wouldn't that match the paintwork a little too much though?

Thanks again for all the replies so far, it helping me a lot.

WinFreak 04-10-2014 07:56 AM

To me that'll just look like you tried to match the cars colour and failed

I think the only thing that looks nice on moonrock is bright silver or black

emc 04-10-2014 08:09 AM

Always used to joke when my silver wheels were covered in brake dust that they were actually anthracite.

I still feel bronze/gold/copper colours look great, but they definitely look modded rather than OEM then and that might be a detractor.

Krisbuc 04-10-2014 10:19 AM

Nice bright silver is my vote classic never goes wrong

tangoray 04-10-2014 04:29 PM

Is it just me but I can't stand black rims in nearly all cases. There's the odd exception to the rule but not on a moonrock.

If it was me I'd go with pearl white (not solid white)....classy looking colour.....type in Bianco Fuji paint in Google.

Diamond cut is my choice with Moonrock,

WinFreak 04-13-2014 03:06 AM

Diamond cut will never last though, one little scratch or stone chip and the corrosion will do the rest.

My wheels are gloss black with Diamond Cut, take a look you might change your mind.

The diamond cut is always a worry as mentioned by others but as I only drive my S in the summer so it's not an issue for me.

Refurbishers seem very reluctant to offer any guarantee on D/Cut aswell.

aston19uk 04-13-2014 12:52 PM

Pic? diamond cut on black

tangoray 04-16-2014 11:20 PM

In for pic! does sound quite interesting....I may be swayed yet lol

PedroHicken 04-17-2014 01:15 AM

Still haven't done them yet.
