Default Reprogramming key fob MY01

Hey all, I got a MY01 and the keyfob has seen better days. I bought a MY07 for the engine a little while back, and it came with two key fobs (the ones with the lock button, unlock, and boot release). Can I reprogramme these to my MY01?

I've tried following this and nothing happens...

I currently have the two button keyfob with the Honda logo on, and the LED in the centre console (which by what i've read shows its the standard alarm?!).

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

And I have two of these from the MY07:

Ps. As far as I know, you can't use a 3-button for an originally 2-button system.

I think that may be incorrect, I have a 1999 and both of my fobs are the later 3 button type, and all 3 buttons work ! Came with the car though so do not know how it was done, but it can be done.

That link is similar to the one I put up (the method that is).

My spare fob I had was a three button one, and I programmed that to the car before (although IIRC if I unlocked the car the alarm would go off (i've also lost that fob, doh!))

Went to Honda earlier and they said they arent sure, so would have to charge me an hours labour to see if it might work! Then checked on their system for how much a new fob would be (and that showed as a three button on their system)?

I just bought a kit on ebay for my fob (same 2 button one as yours).

Mine looks and feels like new now, was getting difficult to press the buttons!!

Probably easier than trying to reprogram the others

edit: was a little bit fiddly to put back together though...

Was the kit just a case so you had to install your old gubbings?

Yeah, it was just a two piece fob with a new set of buttons and a new battery. Feels and looks much better now

That could be an idea if I can't programme mine!

Got a link buddy? PM if not allowed to post in here
