Default Resurrecting/restoring a track day legend

A few weeks ago i purchased Lovegroova's old car after he suffered engine problems at Spa with a view to getting it back to good health, with some of the goodies on the car he could easily have broke it for more but that would have meant the loss of another and it would have being sad to see it broken up after serving Simon so well. i don't know how many miles were done on track or out on a run but from reading around the forum i would say quite a few of the 140k were notched up doing what the S2000 was built for and i would say having a lot of fun doing while them,

I don't have an endless pot of money and after having to purchase the premises i'm in things are a tad tight at the moment so i will be doing things on a strict budget, the first thing up is the Engine which is totalled having thrown a leg out of bed even putting a hole in the spoon sump, the choice being s/h engine but with them fetching around 3k and low mile ones getting harder to find i think i'll go down the route of attempting to rebuild one out of the two i have had sat around for a while toms old one with a knocking lower end and Graeme's with bore damage,

While i am sourcing the parts i need i'll set about tiding the rest of the car up with a view to keeping it as oem as poss whilst retaining the refinements Simon had already fitted,

I'll try to keep updating the thread with all the good and the bad as i go,

Very good nic as I said given the mileage. Been a very well looked after car by the looks!

If or when you want that sump tig welding, I'll give my mate a nudge

Great stuff Ray! Very interested to see your engine rebuild. Will it involve rehoning, or any other machine work? Interested to see if you can put to bed these rebuild horror stories and prove that the F20C is rebuildable with the proper care and attention.

You'll not be surprised to learn that I'm very much looking forward to seeing how this progresses.

I think it did about 50 track or "mucking about on airfields driving around cones" days, so probably somewhere around 7,500 miles of that sort of thing, and yes, huge amounts of fun were had.

If you need to know anything about the car and what's relatively new, you know where to find me
