Sorry to hear about your off- at least it has spurred on another turbo vtec evolution!

Rob, I can top trump your with 40'000 bhp shaft power on some of the large gas turbines I play with :D
Work with a lot of MTU / Volvo stuff too, with lots of cylinders! We normally have about 40MW propulsion units, I think that is about 55,000bhp ish, but we generate upwards of 70MW for the whole ship. Usually V16/V14/V12s, run on heavy fuel oil, and just a PITA! |

That's a different decision of cat but yes the company does make them,
The factory I work for makes 4&6 cylinder propulsion diesel engines and the well know Perkins marine brand we are currently developing a 6.4L V8 sports boat propulsion engine tho with 500hp and 1200ftlb of torque and the flywheel :) That is a awful lot of torque!! The gearbox must be made of something pretty special, haha! |
On topic, this project looks awesome, the compressor blading in that turbo is really interesting, it looks like the pitch/shape of the blade changes from root to tip??
Do you know what the drilled holes around the inlet to the compressor is all about? Good luck! Graham |
Good luck with the build mate, but by the sound of things you need HPDE or suspension mods. If you can't handle 190rwhp how are you gonna cope with 500whp
Should be fun mind  |
Plenty of things planned in terms of suspension to keep the car planted to the road. As I said in my first post I was stupid for pushing the car in those conditions. I dont imagine any amount of training would have helped me to control what happened, in fact had I not reacted as quickly as I did I'm sure the car could have been in much worse shape. I was just simply pushing the car up to speed to quickly. I'm normally very cautious in the wet.
The turbo I have features a machined billet wheel which really is a work of art and very very light. This aids spool as does the porting around the wheel which aids gas draw through. |
The ported holes on the housing are for anti surge
Is it journal, ceramic bearing, is it a sc61 or similar |
Its a V-band housing Journal bearing turbo. Precision 6262 .82ar with 3 inch inlet and outlet.

Are you going for a custom setup? That turbo might struggle to get 500whp will do 500 bhp just if I recall. At the end of the day it's Dependant on the setup etc
Good luck look forward to seeing it |
Hey Phil, yes I'm looking at a full custom set up with a 100% equal length top mount turbo manifold. 500whp should be achieveable at 13-15 psi if our calculations are correct. If its a bit less I wont loose any sleep as the response is probably a little more important too me than flat out power. We'll see how it goes.
