Rocker Cover Refurb Thread
 

This thread was originally a "please help" thread but has moved on to a project build that might help other owners in the future.
Please feel free to read all the posts but the ones from 21st August onwards are the new project.

Can anyone point me in the right direction for getting a refurb rocker cover.
What I want is to:
- purchase one that's already been painted (in a colour of my choice would be nice),
- then remove the old one,
- fit the new one
- and then send the old one back to the person who did the refurb.

(Basically the same as RobinA3 did with my steering wheel - and that was superb)

I got mine through the forum already refurbished, then got a gasket kit from Si @ Hendy.
I wouldn't trust the old gasket after lifting the old rocker cover.

Not used these but they came up on Facebook a couple of weeks back and look pretty reasonable.
Have a look in the comments for pics of the refurbished covers ;)

EDIT: Can't post links to Facebook.....Look in 'Honda S2000 Parts for Sale' a guy called Ross Dunn is doing them. The description sounds like he's selling a rocker cover for refurb but he refurbishes them

I think it's more likely that you'll need to buy a replacement, get that refurbed, do the swap and then sell yours on.

I'd recommend Spooner Restorations as a common favourite with good results.

I purchased a fairly good condition, previously refurbed cover, with a view to swapping for my tatty one, refurbing that myself and then either swapping back or selling the DIY refurb one.

This doesn't actually help you of course, apart from to say that once that process is complete (though its been sat in my garage for over a year now...) I will have a surplus facelift rocker cover for sale which may help you manage the 'my engine is topless' period.

I'd be interested in the outcome of this as mine looks horrendous. I'm embarrassed to open my bonnet in public !

We also need to source a terracotta one for Rich to match his calipers :-)

i will say..be extra careful what you buy! If this refurbished cover has been sand blasted the baffle will be full of sand that will make its way out slowly over time.
There are several destroyed engines from sanded covers just on this forum!

I have refurbished several covers myself and always use paint stripper and then just wire brush!
