Checked mine today and it's looser than Jordons butthole. Is there any reason one could not just replace this elastic strip with a cable tie or 2?

See post #37 for a good, simple solution. You need some elasticity.

No it needs to pull the bar back as the roof folds a cable tie wouldn't.

Not sure if my elastic is tighter, because I can't get my 220mm long strap anywhere near the second rivet once wrapped once around the rear one.

Is the strap length really 220mm or have I misread this?
To get the second wire into the rivets you need to find a roof position that makes it easier to fit I think it was about 1/3 down. Just don't keep flipping the roof up and down for ages without the engine running, I did and ended up with a flat battery.

the strap length is 220mm and 210mm from wire to wire. Now the garage/workshop is getting clearer and when the rain stops I'll knock up another batch, when I do I'll post up again.

Aaah ok, so lowering the roof brings the two bars together - got it!

I must be really retarded as I just can't get the front pins attached in the the pop rivets. There's naff all room in there and the tighter you pull the elastic, the more difficult it is to try ad get the end with the pins in to the rivet holes' as the tighter the looping elastic.

Hi Rich, are you still selling the kits? Would save me some time.
