Default Rubbish Wheels ....very 'Un-Honda'!

I bought a '53 plate demonstrator on the 4th January this year.

Whilst i've washed and Zymoled her a couple of times already, I only washed the wheels today for the 1st time.

I was gobsmacked at the state of them at only 1 year old!! There is bubbling around the centre hub on all four wheels and on one of the wheels the powder coating has come off the wheels (in one spot) showing the alloy underneath.

I also noticed the early signs of corrosion i.e. minor bubbling or orange-peel effect, on most of the wheels !!

I've read on this forum that some of the guys have had wheels changed under warranty......but just how common is this?

What's even more astonishing is why Honda have continued fitting this wheel to the S2 for so long

One question i do have is 'Will Honda contribute to an after-market set rather than replace the wheels with the same again? Or is there another Honda set of wheels that are better, that i could ask to be fitted (even if I had to contribute)?"

Honda will only replace with the same OEM set if you lodge a warranty claim with a dealer. Definately won't contribute to an after market set.

use the site search engine / Tech FAQ to find the volumes of info on this subject.

Hmmm...I suspected as much but thought i'd ask just in case!

I may well decide to fit some after market wheels to the car (and keep the new ones for if/when i sell the car in the future).

Anyone care to recommend the best after-market wheels and where i might find them?

Cheers

There are loads of guys on here with after market alloys. The 16's guys will slag them off though unless they weigh less then a feather

oh dear-here we go again

If your wheels are corroding take them to a dealer.

Care to show any pics-The centre hubs on mine are not looking too good

Honda alloys are shite! Mine are totally f'd after 40K.

Washed with TLC weekly but still seem to corrode faster than you can clean them.
