It's the early models 00-01 that run extremely rich, don't think later do that.
Just a decat is probably safe but with intake and more exhaust mods it might be on the edge.

Oooh.... nice thred.... im ordering a decat pipe with dash board light.... sensor extender pipe fix thingy..... at the end of the month.... This with the k&n typoon kit should be good... it needs a clutch too so I may get a lighter flywheel at the same time... any ideas what itll gain with a remap on the standard ecu.... can they lower the vtec ? Is this worthwhile??? Sorry for thred hijack... my bad but kind of relevant :-) am I likely to run lean.... Mines a 2007.

Longer term ill add in a mocal and like the idea of a catch tank. Thats all... inless the manifold or exhaust starts blowing.... oh how it adds up....

I wouldn't worry about running too lean until you change the manifold as well. Like above the decat only won't make much of a difference.

Get wideband sensor install in the decat + AFR gauge to keep an eye on things

You won't be running lean, you might be running leaner but past 8300rpm the AFR drops to 11:1. Stoich is 14.7 and 13ish is max power. You might go from 11:1 to 11.1:1. Seriously, you'd do more damage driving on a cold day.

Yep, spend £50 on a pipe and then £150 on a gauge that'll tell you nothing useful on a standard map.

Fitted my pipe yesterday - haven't driven anywhere yet, so looking forward to my weekend hoon

Fingers crossed it doesn't throw a CEL or anything else...

WOW - the de-cat makes a huge difference to how the car sounds!

With a 28mm UK mod, it's still pretty quiet on start up and on the m/way, but nice and loud under load and in V-tec...

Awesome mod - which I'd highly recommend to anyone looking for a more sporty exhaust note.

Cheap & easy - what's not to like
