Finally! Potential new S2000 owner.. questions
Hi all,
I've been looking on and off getting an S2K for a couple of years now. I've just blown up my daily driver and finally found one that looks reasonable with a couple of modifications (selling via a mutual friend) and I can insure the thing for under 4 figures now.
The s2000 is a 2001 car, but looks to have been very well looked after.
FSH, 94k, valve clearances done, discs and pads, good coilovers, AD08 tyres, all in all pretty nice.
I'm viewing the car asap, so will look out for rust and several other bits in the thread on here. Am told an alignment has also been done.
RE: Timing chains. Are these lifetime or would you do it as a precaution anyway?
Suppose the only other consumable is the clutch.
Any other top tips for what to look for would be appreciated. I would have rather had a facelift 04+ car, but I'm desperate and still love the look of it.
Cheers guys,
T

take a look in the boot under the tool tray and inspect from below. make sure it hasn't rusted out (water pooling in the boot due to blocked drains is a common issue)
Also check out the FAQs for some other pointers.
good luck with finding one that suits. you won't regret it
