Default It's great to be back

Hi All,

After two years of non-ownership I picked up my second new S2000 yesterday. I used to own a MY04 and sold it after 10 months to purchase a Z4 3.0. I got bored of the BMW after 1.5 years (actually, make that about an hour ) and then bought a new Elise 111R. After 1 year of troubled Lotus ownership I decided to purchase another S2000 to replace it. I may have only had my first S for 10 months and 17,000 miles but it didn't cost me a penny apart from fuel and servicing and I didn't even have to take it back to the dealer for a single problem. It truly was trouble free motoring - I can see why the S2000 has been at the top of the JD Power survey more than once.

Anyway, I picked up my Berlina Black model yesterday and I'm loving it. I am still running the engine in, but the temptation to venture into the land of VTEC has been ever present... I can't wait another month!!!

Nnnnnooooooooo!!!

You bought the wrong coloured car!
You bought the right coloured car first time round!

BTW - I recommend a couple of laps of the M25 if you are looking to get into VTEC land early.

Welcome back to the fold

Not surprised you got bored of the Z4. Sorry to hear you had some problems with the Elise though

Got any photos to share?

So if you got bored of the Z4 but still kept it for 1.5 years, how bored were you of the S that you only kept for 10 months?

Thanks for the welcome everyone

I'll upload some photos when I have taken some... the weather's been naff up norf so I haven't bothered yet.

The Z4 was a good, practical roadster and there are a couple of things it does better than the S (fully auto roof, no need for tonneau cover to tidy things up). Ultimately though, despite being a capable and reasonably quick car the Z4 did bore me and it was in and out of the dealers with problems. The S had it licked for thrills in any situation.

The reason I bought the Elise was because I thought it was the perfect antidote to the boredom that had set in with the BMW, boy was I not wrong - it is a very fast car. Problem was, a couple of days after purchasing I genuinely thought I had made a mistake. The amount of attention that car gets from all the idiots on our roads was unreal, it felt like everyone was tailgating and purposely cutting me up all the time. The 111R, although better built than Elises of old still had pi55-poor build quality and you tend hear a lot of strange noises when driving. I also got tired of taking it in and out of the dealers to sort out problems. The 111R was a great car, but it had far too many compromises to be good long-term ownership proposition. Also, once I remembered the warranty is due to expire in a few months time I realised it was definitely time to get back into an S2k.

Nnnnnooooooooo!!!

I only sold the S because I was piling on the miles and losing a heck of a lot of money in depreciation at the time so I decided to bail and get a new car. My personal circumstances changed not long after buying the Z4 which meant I was no longer doing huge mileage and could keep it a bit longer than I originally intended. If I got bored of the S first time round I certainly wouldn't have bought another one.
