Amen to that.

What would be interesting would be to measure the 40-70 time in 2nd/3rd vs the time in 3rd only. I suspect that from 40-70 2nd/3rd would win, but from 50-70 it'd be much closer.

0-60 is meaningless "pub type talk" IMO.
Little to do with how quick a car is in real world driving.

I can never fathom why it is still quoted really.

But my Evo was 3.9

No reason why they should be - there was no change to engine or gearing (AFAIK) between 99-03 and 04+.

Can't say that I felt that there was any performance differential between my 02 and my 04.
Slight differences in wheel/tyre circumference from the change from 16" to 17" with no adjustment to the speedo calibration perhaps?

When comparing "in gear" times between the S and other cars it is often like comparing apples and oranges because the S is getting into its stride just as most other cars are having to change up. It would be better to look at the revs as a part of the avialable rev range eg

6,000 rpm red line 2/3 = 4000 rpm
9,000 rpm red line 2/3 = 6000 rpm

this will not fully address the issues but it will help level the playing field, the S2000 is a different animal and you can't use the traditional road test measures as they do not show the cars full potential and automatically place us at a disadvantage.

The 30-70 is impressive in comparison with other cars, a nice 5.1 seconds. Althought I think that needs first gear!
