I know i'd try it if my car was nicked with the keys in! Insurance won't pay out if so...

Depends what sort of noise I suppose... Could have said something like rubbing / dragging noise from the rear nearside?

Somehow I knew this would have happened in Warrington before I even looked.......
Sounds like the (ex)owner wasn't the sharpest tool in the box, unlucky though he's in for a tough time with the insurance company.
