S2000 Track Day Preparation
Hi All,
Long time stalker, occasional poster.
My S2000 will be 5 years and hit 60k miles this year. Seeing as Honda do not seem to be replacing the S2K I will by a nearly new 30k-ish convertible. I plan to turn my current S2K into a track day car and was looking for some Northern garage recommendations as I currently live in Cumbria.
Ideally I'd like remove/fit the following and I'd like the garage to do all the work.
1. Reduce weight (aircon, radio, standard seats, sound proofing, etc.)
2. Fit racing seats, harnesses.
3. Fit roll cage.
4. Upgraded brakes.
5. Upgraded springs
I already have front and rear braces and if someone else has some "cheaper" upgrade suggestions it would be warmly appreciated. I plan to leave the engine more or less stock and just concentrate on better handling and weight reduction.
Thanks,
Dan

Garage-R in Barnsley is probably your best bet.
Make sure to budget lots for driver training and sticky tyres (these make the most difference to lap times.
Another trader, Dixon Motorsports sells Dixcel discs and pads which are excellent and are a straight swap for OEM items.

Re: keith2.2
I write Internet protocol specifications for a living so I can handle anything software related, but when it comes to anything mechanical I am totally useless and a danger to myself.
Re: Training and tires
Indeed, a massive difference. I have a National B race license and a summer of Formula Ford, as well as various motorcycle sprint and endurance races under my belt. I am always up for some track training or skid pan days if anyone organisers them via the forum. Actually I went to Papenburg Test track in Germany a few years back which was fun.

How far north? There's a company in middlesbrough called Falcon performance who specialised in race preparation. I used to take my GT4 there, not cheap but a top outfit...
Can also recommend Garage R, Rob's a very knowledgeable bloke.

I love the honest & frank recognition of your personal limitations - nice one! Sort of exact opposite of mine...
Good luck with the project!
