import cars have alot less factory underseal then UK cars,
so when they come into the uk if not sealed properly they will rust worse then a uk car will,

I used Waxoyl (painted on with a brush)under all four arches and pretty much the whole floor pan. I painted all the metal parts (wishbones, rack arms etc) with Hammerite smooth Black paint. I did this last summer and last week while I was fitting a replacement coilover a wiped over all the suspension parts and it still looked nice and black n shiny At the end of winter I'll take all the wheels off and give it all a good blast out with the hose to banish all the salt from all the nooks and cranies then I'll blast it with a air line just to be sure.

Did you remove all the naturally acquired tar from the surface of the underseal before painting.

I found a good 2-5mm all over the inner arches which has taken weeks of horrid hard graft to remove.

Dont wish to argue, not my intent as I have never directly compared the two.
But, curious if you have?

I would have thought there was little financial advantage to finishing a domestic bound car differently to a UK export?

I haven't seen a rusty S2000 yet either.
Not even a ropey ten year old model.

i had a look at MB's car when it was on the ramp at our local garage and his had substancially more then mine
his is uk and mine is import

also the second point about never seeing a rusty S2K:

thats fair enough but better to treat it whilst no rust and help prevent then to sit around and wait for it to happen like it will sooner or later.

My evo 6 had virtually zero under seal, an mean even a few squirts from a can you have been more!

My s2000 was pretty much the same, minimal underseal.

That said, my cars a lot cleaner underneath than my last one was it it was a late 2000 uk model.

Ive Waxoyled mine whilst ive been upgrading the suspension,So far ive used 2.5 L on the front and rear NS.I havent done the offside yet has I have only just turned my car around to work in the other side. The stuff is messy and it doesnt really go hard but provided you do it with the components removed you dont really need to touch it.I found it a arse of a job to brush on so I bought the sprayer kit(about £14 I think)It makes the job easier but is messy.I cleaned the inner wings with White Spirit...brush on wipe off with a cloth, pay particular attention to any lips or places where water or crap can settle, any overspray can easily be removed with White Spirit.I used black so I could see where I had been.Do remove the inner front wing, there are loads of potential rust areas there.Tipp... wear protective clothing.....overalls,gloves,hat and mask.I looked like a bank robber when I did mine,my wife thought it was hilarious. When youve done and had a shower make sure you wash up your nostrils ,I couldnt understand why I stunk of it even after i had a shower untill I found this out.
