Default S2000 v Mazda RX-8

I'm currently considering changing my S2000 for a "sports car" with rear seats but similar performance/styling etc.
I want something a little different - like the S2000 was when it first came out. Ideally want a soft top but that isn't as important as the looks and performance. Can't afford a decent 911 (and those rear seats are very small) and I don't want a TVR.

I've been looking into the RX-8, 250BHP, rear wheel drive, 4 seats (and doors) 50:50 weight distribution, slightly more torque ( and lower down) than the S2000.
Whilst searching the web for info on the RX-8, I came across this thread:

They are already comparing it to the S2000. I can see why. On paper they have similiar appeal but the S2000 has a soft top and the RX-8 has rear seats.

The RX-8 has many styling similarities to the S2000. The spec is similar too. It even has an engine start button.
Anyone else been keeping an eye on the RX-8?
Pricing is unknown and varies from report to report but expected to be around

As long as drives as well as it looks, I think it's highly likely that the RX-8 will replace my Prelude. Another good site for photos is rotarynews.com.
