S2k New Owner - Awesome. Plus:Warranty fixes - gearbox, rear window, paintwork etc!
Hi guys,
Just got my S2k a couple of months ago (ex demo 1300miles) - and now keep seeing S2000's in my town (Fleet, Hampshire) including a black one the same as mine - ah well at least not as many as Z3's, Boxsters etc etc :-)
The car is AWESOME. Apart from the list below, which are mostly cosmetic, I am very pleased. It just makes me smile!
If anyone is interested or can make comments on my problems below Id be very grateful.
Cheers and hope to see you at the traffic lights!
Keith
Car is now in to Fleet Honda for several fixes (hopefully) :
Paintwork - After first few washes, chamois was black as if paint was coming off. Then noticed several large scratches that cant be me. Hidden by garage maybe?
Gearbox/clutch - Clutch was slipping when first collected but seems to be OK now 2000 miles later although it is getting hard to get into first & second. Also had a burning smell (clutch?) often that also seems to have got less.
Rear window - nothing more than we all know EXCEPT Fleet Honda gave me a Honda TSB on how to clean window and remove crease line - I followed the info and poured hot water to get rid of the crease. The crease is still there and now there are lines (scratches) where I ran the hot water bowl across!
I have asked them to investigate the new glass screen (of course they hadnt heard about it!).
Radio distortion - FM radio distorted badly. CDs played fine. Garage is replacing radio and speakers. I had to wait six weeks for the garage to get hold of a radio tho.
Headlamps project very low - quite scary along country lanes!
Driver floor mat - same as everyone else. I guess MuzMats are a must - anyone in UK ordered?
Roof leak - Once, parked at a strange angle with nearside front up in the air in a thunderstorm! Following day water ran in to driver side all over my legs! Garage is replacing catches.
I am trying to reserve judgement on Fleet Honda even tho it took them so long to get the radio and didnt bother contacting me to say when it might be in. I eventually phoned them and they said "It came in this morning sir"! I have read the single post on here saying dont use them but I live and work in Fleet so dont have much choice.

At this moment in time I am as pissed off as I possibly could be with Fleet Honda, Fleet, Hampshire.
Do NOT buy there.
Do NOT get your S2k (or any other car) serviced there!!!

Hi new owner. I live v near you in Eversley. Watch out for red Y2000SE Try Honda Basingstoke ,they have been good to me and mine is an import!!! Great car and so far so good. What about going to the meet in 2 weeks??? Lots of cars going and should be good fun. By the way I've driven your car Sorry!!!! Honda Fleet tried hard to sell to me after the demo but I tracked down an import from a colleague in the trade.

I also had a leak through the top of the offside window - my car is always parked with the nearside higher than the offside, slope of my driveway.
My garage changed/realigned some of the rubber gaskets at the top of the window/windscreen and problem seems cured.
Sounds as if Fleet have covered up problems that they had with the car b4 you...........suggest you contact Honda direct and ask them to put their dealer right........frankly, you may well have a case for a replacement car on the basis that you were sold one with faults that they knew of but did not disclose to you. You could also try your local TSO, depends on just how hard and persistently you want to fight.

Good luck, and sorry to hear of your problems.

Thanks for the replies guys - much appreciated.
They seem to be covering up scratches with something??? I complained when I first bought it of black stuff coming off onto the chamois after washing - any ideas? In fact, they have made at least one of the scratches worse - there are big buff marks around it.
Can you believe they replaced the roof catches and put them on the wrong way round (left on right side, and right on left side IYSWIM), and it was HARD to close them?!??!?!?
They said they fixed the driver mat floor peg - lasted 20 mins!
They have replaced the whole clutch assembly - god knows what will happen with that.
I am bloody fuming.
Dont think I will be able to make the meet - Im ashamed of my paintwork at the moment
What is this DWAB club? Couldnt find it on the Net.
Cheers,
Keith

Keith..............firstly, the DWAB club. sorry it's something of mine, not on the web. To be like a Dog With A Bone, i.e., someone who does not give up!!
I have persisted with arguements with firms such as Deloitte and Touche whose attitude was 'go away little boy' but who finally coughed up many

Have you had an auto engineer go over it?
Hope that the situation is resolved speedily.

on mine when it was new I had to put quite a bit of force on the centre handle to open the roof catches, actually it would only work if I opened the passenger one first and then the driver one. It's gradually got easier as the rubber has softened up a bit.

never heard of superguard, what's it meant to do, fend off guys about to collide with you?
As to the catches, mine have never needed anything other than pressing in the sides and then the catches automatically release from the windscreen.
Hate to say this, but they seem to be trying to take you for a ride - no pun intended!.
Mikerich's point re Honda Used Cars is totally valid, and another reason to get in touch with Honda direct 01753 590 500.
I am really upset for you, just hope that you get fully sorted, and then away from FH, in the end.
