s2k shown on ITV
Who saw Tony Jardine driving a s2k on saturday. He was going against jason button in a renault rear wheel drive supercar. The s2k was 7 sec faster than the renault Clio.
This was probably down to the drivers ability?
I think the renault pushes out 280 + BHP and cost about 28,000.
we need ask ITV to repeat the s2k/Clio clash!

ITV showed the GoodWood Festival. I was moving between channels, in and out of the house. When I switched back around 3:30PM I manage to see about 3 mins of the S2k racing the Clio special edition. It looked like they were racing on a 'A' road.
Not too sure about distance but jason button was not a happy man when he heard that Tony was 7 sec up.

I saw the program, the "race" was actually part of the supercar sprint up the hill-climb on the Goodwood estate. I thought the times showed that the Clio was about 5 seconds faster than the S2K up the hill (1min 7sec versus 1min 12sec) - the Clio I believe has 230bhp.
I think Tony Jardine was just winding Jenson up when he claimed to be 7 seconds faster ! as Jenson had just completed the run and had not seen the times. I would think though that the timing difference has a lot more to do with the relative driving abilities of Jardine & Button than the relative abilities of the cars

The Clio was faster but Tony was pratting around reading his notes instead of driving flat out. Plus the engine bogged at the start. Jenson's Clio shot off the line. I suspect if Jenson had been driving the S2000 it would have been quicker...
Tony did wind Jenson up by implying Tony was faster.

Tony lost at least that time at the start driving without hands, reading his notes. At least you could hear the great engine noise.
Also again showed how anonymous the S2k looks in black.

What I meant is that the S2k loses all it's lines in black. A black S2k passes me regularly but it's only when it's on top of me that I can differentiate it from an MX 5 and then it's too late to give a wave.
