I agree with the sentiment of replacing it with a used OEM one. I'd definitely not order parts before having someone take it apart, if repairing. I don't know much about diffs tbh, but I'm pretty sure the torsen LSD is usually still good in the event of a failure. It is usually the smaller drive gear (I think pinion gear) that breaks. Isn't the MFactory diff also just another torsen? I don't think there is a compelling reason to swap LSD's to a different torsen type than OEM. I'd only stray from the OEM torsen if moving to a clutch type or the like. Either way, I'd probably go OEM on a stock street car or have puddymod rebuild/upgrade..

I think i am going to go for a used unit.
The mechanic its with didn't give me much of a description apart from the LSD's gone bang.

He says... "He'll contact a friend with a better idea of options for me" but also said he'd happily fit a used one.
I just want my Honda back as its the only car I have

its a few hours to swap, rebuilding is expensive and failure rare enough on std cars

upgrades are north of a bag i believe - EWJ had to import from the US and it aint cheap

As long as it's a 90 w EP oil (the one that stinks of sulphur) it'll be OK.

I think some Honda garages aren't used to hypoid gears and put the normal transmission oil in.
