Default Sale advice :(

Hi

I was hoping I might be able to get some advice from you all about my S2000.

I live in Jersey. I only bought the car a couple of months ago - it's amazing but we're not expecting our third and driveway space must be made for an exciting 7 seater

My car is a 2000 year in Silverstone Silver. It's standard except for an aftermarket head unit (Connects2 cabling so the driver buttons still work). The alloys are pretty perfect, but it does have non-premium tyres. The car has had part Honda service history and part independent garage (not total in all, but I might be able to get that over time from calling garages!).

It's had a speedometer change due to illegible digits. As far as I can tell this was done in approx 2010 when the mileage was approx 30k. Since the change it's done 7.5k (so probably a max mileage of 40k, but it'll be hard to guarantee it).

The hood has had better days - it's a plastic window which has become frosted. There's also some areas where the stitching has come loose by the base of the doors.

I'm trying to figure out how much I should sell it for.

I've got two options - selling it as it is, or changing the hood for a new mohair one (prob from Monsoon - I can't get to Jack in Swansea). I'd have it fitted (probably by Honda over here) and get the car serviced and checked by Honda for any other work that needs doing.

If I did the above, it'd cost me approx £1500.

Would any of you have a good idea on how much I'd get from the care, given some uncertainty on the mileage.

Would you spend the £1500 on the hood / service and try to sell it as (close to!) perfect, or would you sell it as is?

Very sad to see it go, but can't really justify it - I'd love to keep it for the summer but I'll get less for it at the end of the season.

Thanks again for your help - also great forum - have had so much information through you guys!

Apologies for lack of photos - pouring with rain.

I wouldnt do the hood. Some one can make a decision on what kind of hood they want and price accordingly. That said, it does become a negotiating point but you can price accordingly to begin with.

When you say “hood” is it safe to assume you are refto the convertible top since it’s an ‘00 and you referenced “a plastic window”?

Thanks for your advice both - that's sound.

Being Silverstone with black leather, I think most would go for a black hood, but there might be some that go for red / blue!
