Default Samco Intake Pipe

Thought some of you might be interested to see my latest mod.

I found on www.kingmotorsports.com a Samco intake pipe to replace the flexi section from the throttle body to the Mugen CAI.

The pipe is made from the same material as the radiator hoses. The pipe has different size openings at each end and two smaller openings for the vacuum pipes. Unlike the oem pipe it doesn't have the flexi section in the middle to allow for the engine moving under load and is in fact completely smooth (I guess in theory to improve air flow into the throttle body)

I got some time this afternoon to fit this hose, which turned out to be a bit harder than I expected as I had to remove both my top strut bar and even the Mugen CAI itself. The fitment isn't perfect, as the angle into the CAI isn’t quite right and it ever so slightly pinches in the middle. Because of this trying to get the CAI back on was a struggle, but after a bit of wriggling it finally all slotted into place.

Here are some photos before, during and after fitment.

The performance difference is not bling.

More like: -
Greater heat resistance
Higher durability of materials

Leading to a higher level of reliability of the cooling system and so the engine. Which when i last checked are reasonably important with preformance vehicles. Even lawn mowers
