SC car on track

My SC car has a Skunk Megapower with decat

Its very fecking loud. With bungs its still loud.

Anyone got experience of an SC car, tracks with noise limits and exhausts?

Talk to CynicG, his was OK at combe a few months ago, think remember his being 95db...with hks silent.....mine was @90 with t1r single etc etc lowest it has ever been so I think something was wrong that day

Yeah, 96db at Combe last month (94db before there so something not right that day I think) with SC, DMS manifold, decat and HKS Silent.

Sounds like a screamer but not loud.

with that setup you wont stand much chance, i was flagged a few times NA at a few different tracks, the only place that has almose endless noise limits ive been to is snetterton, never had a single proplem there, even with the J's racing 70r/70mm decat/manifold. the people spectating on the pit wall dont like it when you hug it with that much noise coming out the back end though ; P

Lynne tracked my last (SC'd) S2000 at Donington. Mugen SS Aero exhaust at the time. No reports of trouble. The beast is now part of The Loon's stable.

A custom is way forward.

70mm tops to large centre silencer, then two dual 57mm each with large back box (pie r squared) gives roughly same flow as 70mm, if possible a helm holtz resonated too because you will get drone. That way flow will be good and not sap power, more 70mm is overkill on sc setup even high boost.

A company like blue flame etc will knock that up for around 500, reuse your existing tailpipe too.

Agreed that drive-by will be the main issue.

Mine is normally 95 or lesson a static test, but the ITBs make a lot of noise under load and would be a problem on non race days.

The other trick with static noise tests is to push the throttle slowly as some exhaust trip the noise meter when you stab the throttle. My old J's Racing one was bad for it but it wasn't a loud exhaust.

I've got a Tanabe super touring and got kicked off donnington a couple of months ago.

I've had a buddyclub and DMS exhaust and both were louder than this one I have now.

You will pass most static tests as the SC will be dumping the pressure through your bov, you'll run into problems when the track has drive-by noise sensors as that's when a SC car is loud.

I did Cadwell last month and the stewards were suprised when it passed inspection, little did they know that it gets 10x louder under load :D

I might be able to let you know. Getting close to finishing my SC install, then just get it over to TDI North for mapping.
Will be swapping out my exhaust and putting the Skunk2 back on and having a resonator welded on to reduce drone.
