Mine have never done that. All i did was set the level by the adjuster on the levelling unit when the car was sat level, did any further minor adjustment via the beam adjuster and then left it alone. It has never had some kind of power on 'concert sweep' type effect that i've seen / heard.

Right, we have to presume due to the weirdness of your car and both headlamps doing it, you need first to check the loom connectors (likely the rear axle sensor) for corrosion/high resistance. Here's what to look for and you can have a bubble at Honda's prices for the two components you might need:

1. and 2.

There is a pleasant chap called MarcS2000 who I'm sure would be happy to give you a quote for the components if you cannot establish it's crap wiring...

I do have a couple of the level sensors that go on the rear axle. Price on them is £40 incl del to UK. If someone can point me to where no.1 in that lings link above is located on the car then i can go find the part number on the one on the 55 plate i've just got for stripping and see if i've got one of them already off a car. Not sure if that would fix your headlights coming on and then going off at the start of the ignition but would expect it to fix any levelling issues.

I think it might be the grey thing on the LHS of the pressed-steel steering column bracket, Marc.

Not easy to see up there!

hmmm i dont have any headlight modules/control units on the shelf so might need to wait until the 55 plate i've got is stripped, but that wont be until the engine is sold.

I think it's an EU/MOT requirement that Xenons need self levelling.

I have removed cleaned and refitted the sensor and bracketry etc and the connector was very clean. The adjustment bar was bent when I first looked at it, maybe the wiring has taken
some damage. Something obviously caused the adjustment bar to bend. I will get it up onto some ramps for a better look. If I had a procedure to test the circuit and even identify a
fuse I could begin a process of elimination. Must have the UK Manual!

Info here regarding setting up ect:
<may have the bracket installed wrong or incorrect length rod giving wrong restistance from the off >
also
The ESM says to reset the controller by turning ignition ON, and within five seconds you turn the headlamps on five times - leaving them on at the fith time.

So I woke up with an idea this morning - the headlamps coming on with the ignition and then turning off again is the exact behavior I'd expect from a fuel pump relay (to prime the system before starting). When I turn my ignition on you'll hear it click off just about when the gauges have sorted themselves out ~3 seconds - maybe a timed relay has been used ?

Has the correct relay been used for the headlights or was there some kind of wiring mix-up that you've corrected ? try page 395 here; https://issuu.com/onderhoud/docs/hon...rvice_manual02
