Default Servicing question

Hi everyone, quick question.....

The s2k is off the road at the moment and will be for the foreseeable future (new house, marriage, kids etc etc!!) Its kept in a heated garage, on a trickle charge system, I turn it over, take it round the block every couple of months or so.

Last august i serviced the car, fuchs oil with oem filter. 3 years back it had a full service, so it needs nothing. Since last august i have covered 160 miles in the car, and honestly this will only increase a few miles a month when i run it round the block.

My question is, knowing the honda engines likeness for oil, is it really that vital for the cars long term health to change the fluids again after covering so little of a distance. This would mean, insuring taxing and MOT just to get it to a garage for a service.

Any insight is helpful, thank you

Without knowing the car age...just change filter and oil yourself keeping all receipts until back fully on the road...as you said you have a heated garage.... :-)

Just park it up without the hand brake on. If you leave it for a long time, it's worth checking the brakes for leaking/sticking pistons. Apart from that, dude, u have a heated garage!!!!

Maybe turn the wheels now and again to avoid flat spotting the tyres too. That's what I do with my 205 that I have somewhere in my parents garage!

I ponder this very same matter every Feb when my car is due its yearly service, I cover less than 400 miles a year in it and the rest of the time it sits in the garage, to keep the service book stamped I have an oil service at the Honda dealer every year and supply the oil and filter, usually costs me £160 inc an MOT, if I wasn't bothered about the FSH then I would do it myself.

Also look at getting some tyre savers to spot the tyres from flat spotting, I use them on my 205GTI track car to stop the slicks from getting flat spotted.

Robin: it's very odd this, i do exactly the same regarding the Honda service every year i toy with the idea of saving myself £100 and doing it myself, every year I take it to Honda. I also have a 205 track car

Don't leave the handbrake on for long periods. More likely to end up with sticky calipers. Better off leaving it off and the wheels chocked/in gear. Tyre savers - even better.
