Severe juddering on gear drops and pull off
 
I had my clutch changed 14 months ago and covered only 6000 miles since. However my car has started to judder on pull off right on biting point. Once I'm moving it's fine till I try to change gear (especially up the rev range) it becomes difficult to select. On dropping a gear I can feel the judder as soon as I start releasing the clutch? I am gonna take it back to the place who fitted the clutch but I wanted to know if anyone's had a similar issue? I haven't even abused the clutch with launching or riding it at all. A clutch shouldn't cause me any issues after 6k? Could it be their fault? I am not in a financial position to be forking out for a clutch yearly.

I had a similar issue with my mx5 after a clutch change. 4k later it was juddering and slipping. Turned out they had put the clutch plate in the wrong way round.

It's odd that it has taken this long to go wrong, if it were incorrectly installed.

It's possible the clutch pressure plate bolts have worked loose, or the friction plate has a defect.

Or it could possibly be a RMS oil leak - has it started using oil?

To be honest after a week of fitting it started to have a very slight judder but wasn't that noticeable. I put it Down to a contaminated plate.

RMS oil leak? Engine oil is fine I check it weekly.

Rear main (crankshaft) seal. It's the one Porsche cannot make properly.

I've not heard of one fail on an S2000, but one has to some day.

If it was there (slightly) from the off, it sounds like something's incorrectly aligned.

I don't think it's that. It's only present when the clutch is engaged around biting point.

If it was there from the get go then its more than likely a clutch fault or installation problem. but first make sure your mounts etc are secure as Nick suggests it could be an alignment problem, what make of clutch was fitted.

My guess is that they didn't use the right clutch. I'm sure our is Exedy OEM... have that checked out first, then alignment as suggested. If its the wrong clutch (i.e weaker), depending on driving style, it may be worn already. :thumbup:
