Default Should the Space saver really be 60psi?????

Whilst I was messing around with the interior trim of my car at the weekend, I checked the spare tyre pressure and it was 20psi. According to the sticker it should be 60psi so I started inflating it. When it got to 30psi it started to look a bit over-inflated so 60psi can't be right, can it?

BTWI left it at 25psi

60 according to the manual, Neil.

Let's face it - it's only like an oversized bicycle tyre - and they run at 75-ish.

I had the electric tyre pump on it and was waiting for it to go pop. Wasn't brave enough to put any more air in, in the end

It won't go pop

MikeRich got it right...it is the smaller size that commands the higher pressure requirements, and it is not properly inflated until it reaches 60 psi.. It was not designed to be a normal tyre (or perform like one...note the speed restriction)...it was designed to be as useful as possible in the smallest possible package.

We call them "donuts" over here

Probably not, but it's nice to have for a complete emergency. I have to say that I would be embarassed calling the AA for a puncture, that's what girls do I'd have to buy a nurby blue
