I'm sure this question has been asked before, but a can't find a quick answer, so apologies if I've missed something.

Which soft-top cleaner and protector comes recommended? I see 303 Aerospace is in the FAQ's, but does anybody have experience of other brands? So, there is RaggTopp, AutoGlym and a whole host of other cleaning products and protecting products.

Who uses what, and what are your experiences? Seperate cleaner and protector, or all-in-one combined product?

For info, this is my first convertible car. Any advice and suggestions gratefully received.

I use the 303 products and it brings the soft top up amazingly - like new. It can be messy stuff tho so don't get it on your paintwork or glass. There is a how to somewhere on here... The manufacturer suggests letting the product soak in a bit then buff off to help the bonding process... I have just done mine ahead of the winter and it does look great.

Edit to previous post: I use a separate cleaner and protector. I have read that a light soapy solution also works instead of the 303 cleaner which would prob work out cheaper...

 

For cleaning, I just use a citrus degreaser and an interior brush. Once scrubbed in, rinse with a hose or low pressure washer.
I have tried Gtechnic I1 for protection. It's very good to start with, but doesn't seem to bond very well, so the protection doesn't last longer than maybe a month.

 

Fabsil seems to be pretty good. I can normally apply it in about 10 minutes and the water beading lasts for about 3-4 months.

 

Do you have a mohair roof? Doesn't fabsil need to soak into the material which it won't do with a vinyl top?

 

Still got the original roof on it.

 

I have a mohair roof and use the Autoglym product, i find it very good and lasts quiet a good time. Need to buy more.
