Spark plug cover looked ill...
Had a go at brightening up the lettering this afternoon with some metal polish which was useless...

Nice and shiney. |
Nice - what did you use on the dremel?
|
Firstly the 'ring of sandpaper' bit to remove the milling lines from the lettering, then I used grade 400 and 600 wet and dry on a block of wood to even everything out, then used grade 3000, 4000 and 6000 wet and dry on a foam block, finished off with a soapy wash then some meggys metal polish on one of those small hard fluffy white discs, the 1 inch diameter ones.

Top work

Thats the problem with Aluminium parts like that, they never stay looking good. Had you looked at sticking some varnish or something over it to stop it corroding again??
I binned mine (in the cupboard anyway) and made a CF one so it couldn't corrode. :D http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y27...4/IMG_2728.jpg |
very nice, I have also been thinking about doing this
