Spark Plugs Replacement Schedule
 

Hi

The last time I changed the plugs was in 2007, mileage was 39516. Had them replaced at Crown Honda in Bushey where I take the car for servicing.

As I only do a couple of thousand miles each year, I have it serviced every two years, next one early June. The car has done around 54000 miles now and the servicing schedule is all out of sync.

Do I need to get the plugs replaced? How often should they be replaced?

Surprisingly this information is in the owner's manual in pre-2006 cars. Who'd have guessed?! :)

Spark plugs are changed every 105,000 miles (168,000 km) regardless of normal or severe service.

Shows in the detailed Maintenance Minder on the 2006+ cars (but it's still every 105,000 miles).

If your maintenance is all out of sync just do a major service and start over. Even the Service Required reminder on the pre-2006 cars is accurate enough when reset.

says to change them every 54,000 miles or 6 years. Probably a reflection of our lower average mileages here in the UK.

With my low-miler, I'm following the time intervals for servicing. It's probably more than it needs, but the overall cost is pretty inconsequential, even at dealer prices.

Plugs are easy to DIY and cost peanuts

Your plugs haven't even done 15,000 miles. they are just babies. to replace them would be murder. It's not as if they decay if not used, still if you like throwing money away I'll let you have my PayPal details.

My first year S2000 still has it's original plugs. Probably will switch them soon, but the car works as it always did. It has covered only 40K km however. Can't beat NGK plugs.

I've changed mine every couple of years even though I only do 1500-2000 miles per year.

Oh well, at least I kept the old ones each time so got many years left before I need to buy any more. :LOL:

Spark Plug gap for OEM plugs?

1.1mm. That's the -11 in the part number. Pre-gapped and anti-seize is already on the threads.
