I took the plunge on Saturday and bought Ian's (Fat bloke) engine and box from a breakers in the Midlands. Andy Vey is going to fit it for me. So all being well I'm sorted.

They told me it wasn't going to be broken!

They were a bit hit and miss - think it depended on who picked up the phone as to whether you got the right info or fobbed off...

Good news Mike, the best bit being that you know the engine has never been worked hard in its life

[QUOTE=Fatbloke;24304835]One careful owner. I never met that bloke though

That must be the feller who told me the engine had only done 10,000 miles and had never been above 5,000 rpm......

Judging by the flak I've had over the last few weeks from my wife, that's my last track day!

Well, I nearly mis-shifted the 86 on the public highway the other day. Basically, it's the same gearbox, and I recognised that either it or I had moved across slightly due to bump forces/torque reaction and I re-selected a safer gear whilst still coasting.

So it's very easily done in either car, for some reason. Tracks have nothing to do with it - honest!
