Speakers stopped working

Yeah - I thought that... unless the mute button is broken.
I did remove the headunit at lunchtime, unplugged everything & re-plugged. Now it's asking for the code - I think it's at home somewhere.
Now when I turn the stereo on there is more of a crack & hiss from the speakers.
Mind you - when I entered the incorrect code, there was a double blepp which I swear came from the speakers! I hate having no music

All seems to work now - disconnected & reconnected everything - working. Although the car beeped when I locked the car - strange.
Although this morning I started the car up & no sound. Turned the stereo off & on again & it worked. Weird.
Does the Honda headunit (and or the wiring connector at the back) have a tendency to break?

Not had a problem with any of my Hondas in the past, is one of the pins in the plug/s loose? so that when you push them together the pin pushes out the back of the connector? giving an intermittant connection.
