Spray lacquer on headlights?

Spray lacquer on headlights?
I've seen a few videos (I'll post links later) of people using spray lacquer to finish headlight restorations.
This would, you'd imagine, provide the most long lasting UV protection. Currently I wax regularly, but clearly not regularly enough as the headlight clouds of doom soon return.
Anyone sprayed theirs? Comment on result?
Anyone got a longer lasting method than wax? PTFE paint sealant perhaps?
Clear headlights make a huge difference to the 'much nice' of the car so I'm keen to keep them looking good.

I use UV sealant which I bought off amazon for the headlights, heard and read good reviews about it, my car doesn't spend enough time out of the garage for me to comment on whether it's any good or not......

Example of someone using lacquer as the 'permanent' sealant:

He leaves it at the 'just lacquered stage' but mentions you'd need to polish the lacquer to get a better finish - remove the slight orange peel.

After going through the sanding and polishing stages ive used Gtechniq c2 liquid crystal just seeing how well it lasts its been good for a few months so far, it has got UV protection, ive started to use this instead of wax on the car body as well now very easy to work with and gives good protection, it dose not make the metallic pop like wax but it is a good protectant

Reviews state 'up to six months' which is about when I compound the top edge of the Leg End's anyway. Ergo, snake oil...
The only thing that makes real sense to me is flat the buggers off completely and get a sprayer to put a coat or two of body clearcoat over them.
They will need to come off for that.

Seems like the only way to get any longevity of protection.

Maybe I'm out of date but I still believe it needs to be a proper low-bake in order to achieve durability.
We've all seen this Chips Away/rattle can shit that stone chips/practically washes off after a while.
