Sprinting/hill-climb or competing in an S2000 2018

New thread started for 2018 season. 2017 season can be caught here, https://www.s2ki.com/forums/uk-irela...017-a-1171852/

Brilliant day yesterday Loton Park hill climb. This is the first time me and Ray have ever attempted the climb. Both of us had excellent pedals with a very tight spread in the top eight of only a second. I managed to bag 2nd place just 0.3s behind the class winner in a Fiesta ST. Really chuffed with the results. Absolutely well pedalled Ray, looking forward to the rest of our season.

More details on our pedaling adventures can be found here if anyone is interested; https://9kclimbers.blogspot.co.uk/

Got to say i had a cracking day even if i did end up 8th out 16 in group 1b, i did end up with fastest launch/64ft time of 2.34 so need to keep that going through the rest of the lap, the 2nd practice run on a still damp track started with the back losing grip on the approach to the first corner which resulted in me taking it steady for the rest of the run, luckily the sun came out during dinner and went some way to drying out the track, on the last run i ended up put ing in a mystery gear change between triangle and keepers which then resulted in me changing down going through the S , never mind will return later in the year for another crack,

Next up is a sprint at Aintree on the 28th of April,
Most meetings we go to have live timing and results which can be found at Resultsman Live Timing Home Page and clicking on MMTS events ,

last run of the day, sorry but i forgot to trim the video and haven't got a clue if you can now it's on the tube

Up bright and early and heading off to out first sprint at Aintree, it's on part of the old GP track that was used in the late 50's and early 60's where the likes of Jim Clark and Jack Brabham once raced, it also runs along side part of the Grand national cause incorporating beachers corner next to the famous jump so hope i hope we don't fall of there:drive: Lee sent me this last night just as i was about to go to bed so needless to say it was wazzing about in my head making me more nervous than i already was,,,,,,,
Leaving the start, preferably without too much wheelspin (doing that only wastes time!) there is a 250 metres straight before the first corner, a sharp left hander called Country Corner. 230 metres further on is Village Corner, a banked right hander which has to be taken just right to get a slingshot out along the 450 metres long Valentines Way. Bechers Bend is next and is incredibly intimidating as it starts quite tightly but quickly opens out. It lasts for nearly 450 metres, and even the slowest cars will be doing around 75mph on the exit. Get it right and you gain important extra speed to take you on to Railway Straight, over 600 metres long, but to avoid excessive speed & in the interest of safety, our finish line is just half way along, opposite Country Corner. The cars then slow down & return to the paddock. Today’s sprint course is 1847 metres from start line to finish line.

Live timing can be found here to see if we get thrashed by the regulars with there MX5's in our group http://resultsman.co.uk/ the weather looks changeable not good at a first event they should pass a law stating that it will Rain or be dry:mad: , catch you later hopefully with some pics and a report

Well that's my first sprint at Aintree done, What a day, i was competing in class 1d with Mike Suds Matt Rowe and a few MX5's making 10 in all, it was a steep learning curve there are only 3 bends but boy are they fast and beechers goes on forever, we will return for a 2nd try to reduce our times, thanks to LJ Earley Ricardo Silva Garcia Mikes dad and Rhauri for coming along to support us,,WE ended up at the end of the day with Matt 1st in class Mike 2nd and myself 3rd so an S2000 1 2 3, don't think the MX5 guys were happy we turned up,
