Removed the power steering unit to refurb the front subframe. I noticed that the steering joint union moves freely in an up and down direction but not when moved from side to side. It feels like there is two movements either way. Does anyone know if this is normal/acceptable or does the union need replacing?

It looks as rotten as mine was when it got replaced last year for that reason. No idea how much worse / better than mine yours is but it's not a part i'd want to have fail on me.

Thank you for your response. Failure of that part was my big concern so I will order new and compare movement for future reference.
