Remember there is low entry jacks available and the scumbags could have one, plus they wouldn't just jack from the jacking points. The decat is the best idea but i hate changing mine every year only to change it back so i stopped the last few years...

I know what you mean. My boosted one which lives on the drive has an aftermarket cat but I bet they wouldn't care. The NA one which lives in garage has its oem cat but i will remove before summer

It takes 30 mins of faff but I don't want manifold and exhaust sliced off

Might decat the boosted just for the bangs

does anyone here know anyone whos had a cat-cage fitted or similar ? I'm not totally convinced it will stop a theft though if the scumbags have the correct tools. Decat to me seems the right way forward, despite the guilt on emissions.

I'm probably more concerned about the CRV than the S to be honest. more ground clearance and less wear and tear on the precious metals within as its much newer.

This is what worries me the most as the cat, exhaust & manifold can be replaced (albeit at great expense!), but if they bend the shell the car is probably a write off, and they could manage to do that before checking it's got a cat...

My colleague's CRV had it's cat taken while she came to work for a 1 hr meeting. Happened in the middle of the day in Reigate, busy company car park, "security" & cctv yet nothing came of it.

Pics from that BBC article show those were using the low profile jack on the Lexus and yes they might not bother jacking up from the jacking point at all

They are pretty brazen, this one is on a drive
randomly recorded on a mobile filming CCTV footage
I have seen before where a Prius gets done in front of a car with a dash am on
would love to sneak up and open the jack up

Admittedly its been a while since i have been on these forums but my S also had its CAT stolen by a bunch of degenerates on the weekend in North London.

Its becoming rife...

6 days after it happened and its an absolute pain trying to get this sorted. Chiswick Honda want to charge £5k for a whole new exhaust system.

I dont know much about the underside of a car generally but one garage said I may need a new manifold. Everything was stock on my car.

Does anyone have any recommendations in/around West london area ?

I think it may be worth investing a in tilt sensor alarm .... if am ever able to get my car back on the road.

The bus our autosports club just bought over the winter (one of the smaller mobility bus type of things) to use as our new timing trailer had it cats stolen a few weeks ago. The cat on the previous truck for the club was stolen 2 winters ago. This stuff gets maddening.

Well the shitty part is that they likely cut your manifold flange and exhaust flange off to steal it, ruining those parts. An exhaust shop may be able to repair though by welding in new flanges and then you just need a cat. Dont go to dealerships for exhaust work (or really most anything on this car). Find a reputable exhaust shop to see if they can repair it cheaper. Otherwise you can probably find people selling stock exhaust setups a lot cheaper than buying new parts.

A stolen CAT is the perfect excuse to buy a Berk HFC, I just wish I'd done that before my OEM CAT was stolen. I ordered mine from Tarmac Sportz and it turned up pretty fast. As for the flanges, in my case both the manifold flange and the exhaust flange had been cut off, but an exhaust specialist can easily work around that problem, so in the end buying and installing a new HFC cost me a few hundred pounds, less than just a second hand OEM CAT by itself would have cost, nevermind the cost of replacing rare aftermarket exhausts and manifolds. The repair for my car were organised by Jerzy at Autoprep Ltd off Tolpits Lane near Watford WD18 9QR. They may be cloased this week due to staff holidays, but should be back at full steam by next week.
