Default Strange rotational squeak/scrape from LHR

For about the last 500 miles or so, my car has been making a strange catching/scraping noise from the LHR. It tends to come and go but is dependent on road speed, does not go away when clutch is depressed and has been getting steadily worse the more I drive the car. However, there is no feel through the car that anything is wrong or loose, I have had the wheel off multiple times to try and find out what is happening but there's literally nothing going on! Rotating the hub in the air (with/without wheel) makes no noise and feels smooth & normal. There is no play in the wheel. There is nothing touching anything from what I can see. It seems dependent on load also - a little bit of gas makes it worse, lift a little and it goes away. Driveshaft boots are OK. When cold and wet first thing in the morning it sounds almost like a squeak once per rotation, the closest I can describe the sound is like something touching rubber (oo err) slightly and it makes a short rubbery squeak on each rotation.

I'm totally stumped. Short of just changing the driveshaft I don't know how I can isolate the issue? Only thing I haven't tried is both rears in the air to eliminate a diff issue - don't think its that though anyway as its coming from the LHS.

Brake discs shield? Might be moving slightly as you drive it, but not when it's static. Just flex/bend it away from the disc and see if it makes any difference.

Yeah thought it may have been that, adjusted it as first attempted fix but made no difference.

Car is basically standard.

Sounds like the classic hub nut noise.

This link tells you how to fix it

Holy shit, how did I not know about this nut issue?! 99% sure now this is what I'm experiencing, hopefully it's not too far gone already. Thanks!

Ok so I've done the rework to the best of my ability, it has solved the rotational noose but now I get a creak from the same corner when I pull away or go on and off the throttle at low speed. Any one else got any experience or input? Might I just need to go another few degrees?

Get a new nut and work some grease into the splines on the drive shaft. Then tighten the nut a bit more than before.
