Did it pass it's NCT? if so surely that would mean the brakes are working.

Hay I can quote myself now! Great that it passed and the numbers were OK, how often do you drive the S, it just may need the pads to get scrubbed in?

well that didn't work as intended, seems I can travel back in time.

Well I only have it a little under 2 months and only covered 300 miles in that time - so the answer is not enough! Agreed it could just be the pads needing to scrub in but for the cost of a set of rear pads (€50) and a flush (1 litre of brake fluid €10), I might just swap. These pads have been on the car a while (the rust suggests that)

I would just buy some new shiny discs. In my experience once they go rusty they never come back.

This is it, the rust will be tougher than the brake pad so all you'll do is make them wear a lot quicker

You can try clearing the rust by pulling the handbrake a bit at slow speed but if that doesn't work then I'd just get some new discs.

Thanks. Since I'm replacing the pads, I may as well do the discs so. More expensive, but once it's done right I suppose.

Disks aren't expensive unless you go for the pre vandalised drilled/grooved ones, standard ones (not from Honda) will be £40-£50 a corner.
