Swop rear so3 pp for so2?
I have had a set of rear 225/50/zr 16 so3 pole positions for just under 1000 miles. Does any one have any so2s of similar wear that theyd like to swop or make me an offer on.

At the end of the day (after much exchange of "opinion") I think the consensus view on the main board was that the OEM S02 rears should be replaced with 245/45 tyres (Luis measured the OEM S02 rear tread at 253mm).
FWIW my MY2000 UK brochure clearly states (in the blurb) that the car has 255 rears (but the spec at the back says 225??)
Touch wood my car is still OK on the S02s, even got some controlled over steer the other night

In one tire survey, there was something like a 10mm difference in footprint between different makes and models on a common size - something like 205/55/R15 IIRC. The OEM S02 has very stiff sidewalls, with very square shoulders, while Andy's S03's seemed to have softer side walls (and rim protectors.). But the footprint, by eye, seemed near identical - though less rubber on the road since the S03's rain channels are a lot more substantial.

I recently (3,000 miles ago) changed from OEM rears to SO-3 225s ... not that happy with them and plan to change them out with 245's ... the only reason I did not attempt to find OEM rears is that our area is usually wet and the 03's apparently are better in wet than the 02's.

Just for the record I've got S02PP's fitted 245/45's on the rear. Personally I wouldn't go near the S03's just yet as it's a very strong rumour on ScoobyNet that there's going to be a high performance version soon

If the so3 225,s on the rears are narrower than so2,S, can I shove the 225s on the front and buy 245,s for the rear? Ive still got worn so2s on the front which need replacing.

Others on the board are running 225 fronts but only when they have aftermarket rims with very chunky (255+) rears, otherwise you are going to change the car's balance even further towards oversteer i.e. 225/245 f/r ratio vs >205/245 OEM balance. The OEM 205 fronts are a little narrower than typical tyres in that size...
