It could be yes, if the oil's too thick it can make gear changes difficult. I use Redline in mine, it gives marginally better shifting than the Honda stuff.

You can get it from Here.

It does it sometimes when I go into 5th as well.over the last week it has got worse.

Will need to find a garage I can trust as they could say anything lol.

Thx for the replies I was hoping there was a cheaper route I could try.or a way of knowing it was Def syncros.

Thx

Dave
If it does it going into 5th as well, then a bent shift fork (plus the right oil ) sounds much more likely.

One more thing from the moderator point of view, please don't use txtspk in this form (all the Thx above)

Had the transmission oil changed to honda mtf3 still the same.
If I go to nutral before third and slight rev it goes into third without the notch .

Slight change of subject but I looked at the vin number and near it under type is said ap1 allthough this is a 06 plate? Is that right

Thank you

Dave

Yes that's correct all UK S2000's are AP1's. Only the USA (as far as I know) got AP2's which had the 2.2 litre engines.

Is your gear change notchy even when you change gear at high revs?

When in nutral with clutch fully down as i put into first gear the car feels like it tries to go forward.like a judder before I've taken my foot of the clutch.does this sound like my clutch is on the way out? Could it be the clutch all along that gave me a notch feeling going into third gear?
Sometimes when I double clutch the notch isn't there. If the clutch is going it could be a good time to look in the gearbox.

Also wanted to add I see alot of owners have this notch problem.i don't know if a notch describes mine. From nutral to third it goes through a notch that feels sharp? The feeling in the gear stick feels like a sharp grind ?

Thanks

Dave

Did you change the clutch fluid at any point in this diagnosis ? if not, I think it would be a good place to start. I'd also take the gear lever out and re-grease the ball https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/772...e-shifter-diy/
