Temporary Insurance required: Viewing a S2000 in England this WE

Dear guys,

I will fly from Glasgow to south England to view an S2000 that I liked. I've done all the checkings I could, and now comes the moment of truth: to see how it actually is!

If everything is OK (hopefully!), I will be driving it all the way up here.

Could you please advice me what kind of temporary insurance could I get in advance just in case that happens?

(As I will arrive there on Saturday, I guess that no insurance will be open during the WE, so I should plan it in advance)

Eager to join the gang!!

Thanks!

Get a quote, ring them and pay Saturday if you buy it<why not 12 months insurance>?mines open 7 days a week..
Then you will need Tax

Get a quote with reference to this car online, then if this is the car for you purchase the insurance, tax the car and home, easy

My friend used the Cuvva app to get insurance on my S2K when he drove it, seemed fairly painless

care to tell us the car? ;)

You can arrange temp insurance online. It can be tricky as you're trying to insure something that is not yours - no insurable interest - but there are companies that should help. Google will be your friend

Thank you very much guys!!!
I did as you suggested, and quoted online and phoned ADMIRAL. Comprehensive insurance, 250gbp of excess and no f***king “little box” for 888gbp/annually.

If I get the car, I just phone them and it’s done in minutes.

Thanks and sorry for my inexperience.

No problem, we are happy to help if we can. Let us know how you get on, and pictures.

If its the blue one in this post don't buy it, they currently have it up for sale again. It's spun a bearing in the big end which will have been repaired. Best to avoid.

Ok, I’ve just viewed the car. Below 30K milles, and pretty good shape. BUT, I’ve found these below....

the car has been stored in Wales, with plenty of snow and salt.....

I don’t know guys.... what do you say?

Probably I should get one with more milles but less corrosion/rush.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!

I would run a mile personally, there is a lot of rust that you can see, this means that there is also a lot of rust that you can't see. All the bottom arms etc can be cleaned/painted etc, however even the ABS sensor wire brackets are rusty, this all will be expensive to sort.
I would hold out and buy one that is in better condition. I recently sold my MY99 (admittedly a garage queen) and it was mint underneath, no rust whatso ever, so these cars are out there, just keep looking.

thank you very much!! I Appreciate you taking the time to advise me.

i’ve found a guy that does power coating of all those parts, but I seriously don’t feel like tearing apart the whole car as soon as I buy it.

I’ve seen another one that is 1,5 more expensive, 1 year newer , VSA, and hardtop with 45K milles instead of 23k. I guess it’s a better option.

thanks!!

My MiL used to say “ what is for you won’t go by you” the right car is out there for you, you may have to look at a few first though.

On the other hand, it could well have had a new engine and if so it might be a bargain!

r01t 04-04-2019 06:52 AM

That's what I was hoping for when I was the owner, but it wasn't on the cards. The quote from Honda was about 16k so I seriously doubt it! It'll either be a second hand engine or a repair, either way I would steer clear. Also the diff felt a bit lumpy at low speeds.
