I'm using Tomtom2 with an Ipaq and its simply superb, I'd have no hesitation in recommending the system to anyone.
Tomtom 'Go' is available shortly which is a completely self-contained unit.If you don't need a PDA, you might want to consider one of these which at around

Coincidentally I have just bought the following:
HP iPaq 4150
Tom Tom 3 Bluetooth
Seidio GPS-ready iPaq Mount with powered speaker
Used it for the first time this morning on the way to work and it performs brilliantly.
Also got "POI Warner" from www.navigating.de which interfaces with the Tom Tom software to warn you about approaching "Points-Of-Interest" i.e. speed cameras. It warned about all the ones I encounter on the way to work and in plenty of time to slow down.
All this cost me about

I started off with a wireless set-up btw, using a Bluetooth GPS receiver. It's very neat, but I got fed up of charging batteries all the while. I now use a 'RoyalTek' wired receiver. Off just one tidy curly wurly lead it powers the receiver and the Ipaq. Start-up acquisition times from cold are also instant compared to Bluetooth which could take a while. I now just plug in and go with no power worries.
I'd personally give Bluetooth GPS a miss - unless you want to go back-packing in Papua New Guinea of course.
