TOP GEAR Dead?
Is Top Gear really dead?
I read it in Clarkson's piece in the Sunday Times this morning. It's not April 1, so I guess it is true.
I have not seen it recently, but the Beeb must have lost the plot if they are really finishing it. Does the magazine go as well?
The impact that Top Gear had when they switched from Chris Goffey discussing the size of the wiper blade on a Maxi - to Clarkson et al blasting around in TVR's and not really caring if they upset Renault was impressive -
Seems a shame that era has ended.

Dying,
All fell apart when Clarkson left in many peoples eyes, not many can do what Tiff does or can be bothered with the 5 mins of crap between articles (Devil pictures, waves breaking, yawn, yawn), and I personally can't be bothered with some of the older stuff they pitch, restored Morris Minors et al.
Driven has overtaken it in many peoples eyes, only VBH is worth tuning in for nowadays, that time when she was in an EVO 6 or something like that, when they had to cut her sexual expletives will live with me for many years ' Oooh you little f...........' fantastic!

The weekly Top Gear email message from VBH announced the news last Saturday. Real shame. I agree that the Clarkson era was the best ++, but here in the antipodes the weekly injection of TG on BBC world TV was about all we get of good Euro based motoring comment.
Those weekly emails from Vicki alluded to the fact that she has been driving an S2000 herself for the last several months and clearly enjoying it. Do any of you guys know anything about that?
Cheers

Very sad. but as you say the programme has been going downhill for a long time. I can't believe that they're just giving up on it. Someone should be grabbing 'Top Gear' by the scruff of the neck and giving it it's balls back! 'Driven' is far more informative and entertaining these days. 'Granada Men and Motors' which has 2 or 3 hours devoted to motoring is a huge disappointment with endless repeats and bearded guys in corduroy trousers and sandals building bottom end nondescript kit cars. Yup the Beeb have really lost the plot

Tiff Needell was interviewed about this on the radio and explained that the programme is still one of the most popular on BBC2, still we only pay the licence fee !
Then again what do expect with a woman controller of BBC2 ?
