shopman - seen the link, and looked at the pdf file on how to. straps arent anything like mine. ones in the pdf look like more of the roof material, the ones that have pulled out of the rivet are rubber (like a wide elastic band). i'll take some pictures at weekend when it's lighter and see if what im talking about is the same thing you guys are on about

When you undo the hood latches to release the hood you are supposed to do them back up again before lowering the hood.
As long as you did this you should be fine. If you did not then the hood was not operated accoring to the instruction in the owners manual.
Your dealer is still talking
as has been said it's up to Honda UK if they accept or reject the claim not your dealer. The dealers job is to gather the facts and ask the question of Honda UK.

looks like i need a set of straps for mine.
the current ones have lost their elasticity (the ones in question in this thread - as shopman posted further up) and are only 1/4 rolled around the roof bars.
should be 1 1/4 times around the bar.
also some rubber straps aswell which have pulled out of the rivets which was what i posted about before!
more parts needed!!
