Two Advisories

Afternoon chaps,

My S2000 was in for it's MOT this morning. Passed, but two advisories which I'd like to sort out over the next few months.

Monitor and repair if necessary (advisories)
  • Nearside Front Suspension arm pin or bush worn but not resulting in excessive movement compliance bush bonding deteriorating (5.3.4 (a)
    • What parts are required for this? Easy DIY job with the right bush press?
  • Front Service brake brake binding but not excessively both slightly binding & slightly uneven front brake application (1.2.1 (f))
    • Two new front calipers I guess?Had a look on Eurocarparts, but they're £180 each (before discount). Any cheaper sources? My M3 calipers were half that! Maybe time for a BBK :) Or does it share a caliper with any other Honda model which won't attract the S2000 parts tax?
Thanks in advance.
Graeme

AS it says, compliance bush<Caster>,Spoon or Mugen do replacements <pair of>& Honda do not sell them. Not a simple job by far !!
Strip rebuild or service front calipers, free of sliders and pads

Those could be b-s advisories. I had similar for years when using local MOT stations. Last year I had MOT done at Honda - all advisories gone.

Yeah, who's ever heard of an S2K with seized brakes eh ? ;)

If none of the bush bolts/adjusters are seized then the compliance bush will need a press and full geo alignment after (obvs need to do both sides), I went with Mugen about 4 years ago and still going strong. Of course if seized then you're in for a whole heap of cutting and swearing for a DIY job

Have a look at Brakes International for refurbished calipers, should be looking at £80-100 each. Failing that try eBay.

Invest in a sabre saw if your bolts are seized, took me 6 blades and a days worth of cutting, shouting, banging and blood shed...

a compliance bush will prob mean cutting suspension adjusters as John aludes,

you can see a post on my SC thread here for this exact issue

where i did the same, it's easy but the parts are pricey

calipers you can sort yourself

i say easy, i have a **** off big saw with good blades
